Last weekend Nic and I joined 9,000 other people to walk 3.1 miles around Richmond to fight breast cancer in the race for the cure. Nic signed up with his work and I with mine. It was fun and a beautiful day for walking. The walk started by Brown's Island and went across the Manchester Bridge and where you get a magnificent view of the city. I was walking mostly because it's a great cause to support as well as my grandmother is a breast cancer survivor. Many people told us not to get a puppy because they are a lot of work! While this is very true and sometimes it can be somewhat trying, I am so happy that we have her she is such a joy! We, the boys of 511 #11, had our own language. To live in our apartment was to assimilate, taking up our language and mannerisms. For instance upon arriving back at the apartment from a trip out, one must throw the front door open, and screen one of two things: 1. "Hull-LOW(?)" (often phrased more as a question as this option was usually taken when one was not sure who was around) 2. "Wha-da-ya-say-dare?" this option was far more popular, and was often repeated once for each member of the house.

Very well, so what does this have to do with the Creehan family you might be asking? A good question. Well all that was just to say that at some point I picked up from 511 speak the term Poop Popsicle. I'm not sure which member of the 511 family added it to the language base, but it was there, and so I picked it up, and have been as of yet unable to drop it.

The following is possibly the most common conversation in the Creehan household:
Wife: What do you want for dinner?
Husband: Food.
Wife: What kind of food?
Husband: The kind that tastes good.
Wife: ...

It may seem like this has nothing to do with our current discussion, it doesn't really, but let me say two quick things first will she ever learn? Seriously, that exact conversation happens 3 times a week. Second, after I relate the second most common conversation in our house you might understand my mentioning the first.

Wife: What do you want for dinner?
Husband: Poop Popsicles
Wife: ...

You might note that this conversation leads the wife to be confounded sooner (take that for what its worth). But alas after hearing <del>humorous</del> curt response so many times, my wife decided to have some humor of her own...

<img src="http://static.flickr.com/38/122888587_bcada57ee7_m.jpg" alt="mmm... It was really fun! I'm definitly a little rusty with my flute still...but I definitly held my own and did alright. I am so excited to get to play worship music in this way. It is something I have always wanted to do, however, I cannot just play from hearing a song or hearing other people play. I must have the music in front of me and this is the first time I've been offered that! We are going to be playing 4 songs on easter with the entire worship band and singers and a worship ensemble chorus! It is going to be awesome!! The worship ensemble is quite small. It include a piano, a clarinette, a flute, 2 violins, 2 french horns, and 1 trumpet player. I do have lots of practicing to do this week so I'll be ready for next weeks practice, but it is so much fun! I really have missed playing like I did in middle and high school :)

Dinner Guests

You probably know that Kate and I bought our first home last November. And, chances are that either you haven't even seen it yet, or the only time was when you were helping us to move in. We have sadly been very lax on sending out invites to friends and family. You see right after we moved in our furnace broke, and we had to move out. A week later when we moved back in, the holiday season was in full swing. It wasn't until mid-January that we purchased some much needed furniture pieces. Then it was just so darn cold. Finally for the last few weeks we have both been fighting colds.

All that out of the way, I'm going to go ahead and say a few things. 1. We are sorry that we haven't had you over yet. 2. We love dinner guests. 3. We are totally cool with people who take initiative. i.e. Feel free to invite yourself, the worst that could happen is we say no (meaning we hate you?!?!). I joke.

Seriously, if you would like to dine with the Creehan's drop us an email, and we will have you over as soon as possible.

Worship ensemble

Our church is putting together an orchestra to play on Easter Sunday, which sounded to Kate like a perfect time to dig the flute that she played for five years out of the attic. Now, from time-to-time our little home is blessed by the wife trying to remember her finger positions, and reaching for those ever-elusive high notes.

Thanks to Kate, and other volunteers, our Easter promises be a special one.
